CERTIFICATIONS IN CONNECTION WIT" THE OPERATION <br />OF A SECTION 8 EXISTING HOUSING PROGRAM <br />Bncx 58 te,al�'r 754 <br />Instructions: The applicant agency must provide assurances and certify to all of the following items. <br />The applicant agency hereby assures and certifies that: <br />(i) It will comply with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (P.L. 88-352) and regulations pursuant thereto <br />(Title 24 CFR Part 1) which states that no person in the United States shall, on the ground of race, color, or <br />national origin, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be otherwise subjected to <br />discrimination under any program or activity for which the applicant receives financial assistance; and will <br />immediately take any measures necessary to effectuate this agreement. With reference to the real property <br />and structure(s) thereon which are provided or improved with the aid of Federal financial assistance extended <br />to the applicant, this assurance shall obligate the applicant, or in the case of any transfer of property, the <br />transferee, for the period during which the real property and structure(s) are used for a purpose for which the <br />Federal financial assistance is extended or for another purpose involving the provision of similar services <br />or benefits. <br />(ii) It will comply with Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968 (P. L. 90-284) as amended, which prohibits <br />discrimination in housing on the basis of race, color, religion, sex or national origin, and administer its <br />programs and activities relating to housing in a manner to affirmatively further fair housing. <br />(iii) It will comply with Executive Order 11063 on Equal Opportunity in Housing which prohibits discrimination <br />because of race, color, creed, or national origin in housing and related facilities provided with Federal <br />financial assistance. <br />(iv) In establishing the criteria for the selection of tenants, the PHA or Owner will not utilize preferences or pri- <br />orities which are based on (1) the identity or location of the housing which is occupied or proposed to be <br />occupied or (2) upon the length of time the applicant has resided in the jurisdiction. The PHA or Owner <br />shall treat non-resident applicants who are working, or have been notified that they are hired to work, <br />in the jurisdiction as residents of the jurisdiction. <br />(v) If the proposed project is to be located within the area of a local Housing Assistance Plan (HAP), the <br />applicant will take affirmative action to provide opportunities to participate in the program to persons <br />expected to reside in the community as a result of current or planned employment. <br />Chairman <br />November 7, 1984 Board of County Commissioner_SD� G '4�71 <br />(Date) (Title) (Signature) <br />* G.
