necessary funds from the Forestry Service to maintain Donald <br />MacDonald Park; about $10,000 is needed to make the park safe and <br />habitable. Commissioner Bird commented that he is giving the <br />Forester the opportunity to pursue this with the understanding <br />that if he is not successful, then as a last resort we will go to <br />the Legislative Delegation to bring pressure to bear on his <br />bosses. <br />Commissioner Bowman noted in regard to clamming, that some <br />of the marine biologists are saying that the clams grow so fast <br />we have no reason to worry, but she did not believe sufficient <br />data is available. She felt it will be up to the local <br />government to pass a moratorium until the state is able to move <br />and do something about this. <br />Intergovernmental Relations Director Thomas confirmed that <br />Commissioner Lyons is very concerned about this, and he also <br />wrote a memo regarding a possible moratorium. Mr. Thomas agreed <br />if we don't have management, we will have neither clams nor grass <br />beds. <br />Administrator Wright believed that the state has to set a <br />moratorium; that it can't be done at the county level. <br />Mr. Thomas felt we should ask the state to do whatever is <br />necessary. In further discussion, it was noted that the river is <br />in the charge of a number of agencies, and Attorney Brandenburg <br />agreed that to have a memo prepared on this subject for next <br />week's agenda. <br />J AGREEMENT WITH FLORIDA ATLANTIC ASSOCIATES (VILLAGE GREEN) <br />Attorney Brandenburg discussed the agreement with Florida <br />Atlantic Associates and noted that sometime ago the Board <br />authorized his office to take action to see that the mobile home <br />park owners came into compliance with their franchise and caught <br />up on their escrow amount. Since that time they have been <br />diligently catching up, paying over $2,000 a week, and have <br />reduced that balance from $140,000 to about $70,000.
