Fl - <br />DEC 5 1984 <br />BOOK 5,9 84 <br />Discussion ensued regarding contracting for that service in <br />order to realize some cost savings, and OMB Director Barton <br />stated that his recommendation would be to go out for a fixed <br />charge for the round trip and have a contract. <br />Commissioner Bowman suggested a possible Motion author- <br />izing staff to advertise for bids for the service discussed and <br />specify that they not necessarily use a hearse for the <br />transportation. <br />Administrator Wright pointed out that this is a bit more <br />complicated than just hauling a body, and the Chairman agreed the <br />problem is security as related to submitting evidence, etc. <br />In further discussion it was noted that this does not <br />involve just unidentified bodies, but unattended deaths, and <br />Commissioner Wodtke pointed out that the police can't select the <br />funeral home, that is up to the family. <br />Administrator Wright agreed there are quite a few complica- <br />tions involved, and staff will look into it. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Bowman, SECONDED <br />by Commissioner Wodtke, the Board unanimously <br />(4-0) authorized staff to investigate the above <br />matter and bring recommendations back to the <br />Board. <br />DISCUSSION OF SPACE IN DOWNTOWN AREA AVAILABLE FOR COUNTY <br />OPERATIONS <br />General Services Director "Sonny" Dean made the staff <br />presentation, as follows: <br />6 <br />
