1st St. between 27th & 32nd Avenue <br />Public Works Director Jim Davis reported that he had received <br />letters from three property owners objecting to this project. <br />Chairman Lyons opened the Public Hearing and asked if anyone <br />wished to be heard in this matter. <br />Russ Upton, owner of the lot on the corner of 1st Street and 29th <br />Avenue, spoke in favor of the paving. However, he believed lst Street <br />would become a drag strip, and since many children live on the street, <br />he suggested that stop signs be put on the streets instead of the <br />avenues. <br />Chairman Lyons advised Mr. Upton that his suggestion would be <br />considered at the next meeting of the Transportation Planning <br />Committee. <br />Gerald Koenig, a resident of 2725 1st Street for over six years, <br />spoke in favor of the paving. <br />Russ Augspurg, 3166 1st Street, stated that he was looking <br />forward to the road being paved and getting rid of the dust. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Scurlock, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Bowman, the Board unanimously closed <br />the Public Hearing. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Scurlock, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Bowman, the Board unanimously adopted <br />Resolution 85-06 providing for certain paving and <br />drainage improvements to 1st Street between 27th and <br />32nd Avenues; approved the preliminary assessment roll in <br />the amount of $37,168 to be allocated from the petition <br />paving fund; and authorized the Road & Bridge Dept. to <br />schedule construction. <br />17 <br />
