_I <br />AN 1 6 1985 <br />BooK <br />5 F,Acr6 <br />Director <br />Thomas explained that he used those figures <br />to try <br />to give the Board his best judgment as to what it would cost us <br />if we had to replace the construction part of the cross -overs as <br />compared to what we can do in-house over the months to prevent a <br />complete loss of the cross -overs. He noted that so far we have <br />had no indication of receiving any help from the DNR. <br />Chairman Lyons felt that this points up that we are facing a <br />continuing and increasing expense. <br />THE CHAIRMAN CALLED FOR THE QUESTION. <br />It was voted on and carried unanimously. <br />TENNIS COURTS AT GIFFORD PARK <br />Commissioner Bird reported that part of the money for these <br />courts was budgeted last year and some this year, and it amounts <br />to approximately $23,000. This was put out to bid and two bids <br />were received, both in excess of the budgeted amount. Both <br />bidders are quite a distance from the Indian River County area. <br />It is recommended by the Parks & Recreation Committee that these <br />bidsbe rejected and rebid, with more of an attempt made to get <br />local bids in hopes of reducing cost. <br />Director Thomas reported that the low bid was from Vista <br />Courts, Inc., of Longwood, Fla., for $28,885 and the high bid was <br />from Needy Construction, Winter Park, Fla., for $32,255.80. <br />MOTION WAS MADE by Commissioner Bird, SECONDED <br />by Commissioner Wodtke, to reject the bids received <br />on the Gifford tennis courts, which are over budget, <br />and rebid. <br />Chairman Lyons inquired if there was anything in the specs <br />that might be changed that might influence the bids without <br />changing the quality of the job, and Director Thomas reported <br />12 <br />
