ON MOTION by Commissioner Scurlock, SECONDED <br />by Commissioner Bowman, the Board unanimously <br />approved the recommendation of the Data Process- <br />ing Committee in regard to hiring a consultant. <br />�rBIDS ON TENNIS COURTS FOR GIFFORD PARK & LIGHTING AT <br />KIWANIS-HOBART BALLFIED <br />Commissioner Bird informed the Board that in last year's <br />Parks & Recreation budget approval was given to spending capital <br />funds on two top priority projects - two tennis courts at Gifford <br />Park and a lighting system for Kiwanis Hobart baseball field. <br />Engineering drew up specs, and bids were requested on the <br />tennis courts. The original estimate was $22,000, but the bids <br />came in in excess of the estimate, and the project was rebid. <br />The best price of $27,995 was submitted by Varsity Courts of <br />Longwood, and the other bid was $32,000. After analyzing the <br />bids, the Parks & Recreation Committee recommends this be awarded <br />to the low bidder, Varsity Courts; the funds to be taken out of <br />the capital improvement account. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Bird, SECONDED <br />by Commissioner Scurlock, the Board unanimously <br />awarded the bid for construction of two tennis <br />courts at Gifford Park to the low bidder, <br />Varsity Courts of Longwood, in the amount of <br />$27,995 as recommended by the Parks & Recreation <br />Committee. <br />CONTRACT DOCUMENTS AND SPECIFICATIONS ARE ON FILE IN THE CLERK'S OFFICE <br />Commissioner Bird reported that the dimensions of the <br />ballfield at Kiwanis-Hobart Park are being changed so we can play <br />any type of baseball, either Senior or Little League. It will be <br />a 300' field and can be used for softball or baseball. The <br />engineering estimate for a lighting system was approximately <br />$37,000.
