Keat'ng, ICP USE PLAN AMENDMENT <br />Planning & Development Director PETITIONS <br />FROM; ?,� REFERENCES: <br />Richard Shearer, AICP Biannual Review <br />Chief, Long -Range Planning CHIEF <br />It is requested that the data herein presented be given formal <br />consideration by the Board of County Commissioners at their <br />regular meeting of April 3, 1985. <br />DESCRIPTION & CONDITIONS <br />The County has initiated a request to amend the text of the Land <br />Use Element of the Comprehensive Plan in order to provide for the <br />biannual review of land use plan amendment petitions. Presently, <br />petitions are only accepted for review once a year during January. <br />On November 19, 1984, the Planning and Zoning Commission voted <br />5 -to -0 to recommend that Comprehensive Plan amendment petitions be <br />reviewed twice a year. <br />On December 12, 1984, the Board. of County Commissioners voted <br />3 -to -1 to accept amendment petitions on a biannual basis. <br />On February 21, 1985, the Planning and Zoning Commission voted <br />5 -to -0 to recommend approval of this request. <br />ALTERNATIVES & ANALYSIS <br />At the direction of the Planning and Zoning Commission and the <br />Board of County Commissioners, the Planning Department has <br />prepared a proposed amendment to the Comprehensive Plan which <br />would allow land use plan amendment petitions to be submitted <br />twice a year. Under the proposed amendment, amendment petitions <br />would be accepted by the County during the months of January and <br />July. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Based on the above analysis, including the Planning and Zoning <br />Commission's recommendation, staff recommends approval. <br />The Chairman asked if anyone present wished to be heard. <br />Nancy Offutt, liaison for the Board of Realtors, informed <br />the Board that the Realtors support the actions of the County in <br />initiating the proposed biannual review. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Scurlock, SECONDED <br />by Commissioner Bowman, the Board unanimously <br />closed the public hearing. <br />30 <br />
