M <br />ing by the County, a <br />resident project representative mutually acceptable to <br />both parties will be furnished and will act as directed <br />by the Consultant in order to assist the Consultant in <br />observing performance of the work of contractors. <br />(1) The duties and responsibilities and the limitations <br />on the authority of the resident project representative <br />and assistants will be set forth in a work <br />authorization. <br />(2) Through the more extensive on-site observations of <br />the work in progress and field checks of materials and <br />equipment by the resident project representative (if <br />furnished) and assistants, the Consultant shall endeavor <br />to provide further protection for the County against <br />defects and deficiencies in the work of contractors; but <br />the furnishing of such resident project representative <br />will not make the Consultant responsible for <br />construction means, methods, techniques, sequences or <br />procedures or for safety or programs or for contractors' <br />failure to perform their work in accordance with the <br />contract documents. <br />ARTICLE 6. SUPPLEMENTARY AND SPECIAL SERVICES. <br />The Consultant agrees to furnish the following <br />supplmentary and special services as may be authorized <br />from time to time. <br />6a. To make, or to have made by others under the direction <br />of the Consultant, necessary field surveys (including <br />easement plans and descriptions) not otherwise provided <br />by the County, traffic surveys, subsurface explorations <br />including the analysis thereof required for construction <br />plans, laboratory testing and inspection of samples or <br />materials, and other special studies and consultations. <br />6b. To prepare necessary State and Federal grant <br />applications forms, provide additional engineering <br />services, special plans and descriptions, as required, <br />to assist the County in obtaining various permits and <br />approvals for construction and operation, and to prepare <br />for and attend public meetings and hearings as <br />requested. <br />6c. To furnish extra copies of drawings, specifications, <br />contract documents, special drawings and reports as <br />requested by the County. <br />6d. To review and report on materials and equipment <br />submittals tendered by bidders and contractors when such <br />submittals are alternatives to those specified or <br />previously approved. <br />6e. To review and report on claims for extras submitted by <br />contractors. <br />6f. To prepare and submit proposed contract change orders <br />when requested by the County. <br />6g. To prepare a set of reproducible record drawings of the <br />completed work based upon marked -up prints, drawings and <br />other data furnished by the Contractor to the Consultant <br />showing those changes made during the construction <br />process and which the Consultant considers significant. <br />6h. To revise previously approved studies, reports, design <br />documents, drawings and specifications. <br />6i.
