APR 24 19851c. <br />BOOK 0 703 <br />The form and format of the budget described in Article <br />lb above shall be in sufficient detail so as to identify <br />the various elements of cost and shall be subject to the <br />approval of the County. <br />ld. The authorization may contain additional provisions <br />specific to the authorized work for the purpose of <br />expanding upon certain aspects of this agreement <br />pertinent to the work to be undertaken. Such <br />supplemental instruction or provision shall not be <br />construed as a modification of this agreement. <br />le. Authorizations shall be dated and serially numbered. <br />ARTICLE 2. CONSULTING SERVICES: <br />The Consultant agrees to provide continuing consulting, <br />review and advisory services. <br />ARTICLE 3. STUDY AND REPORT SERVICES: <br />The Consultant <br />agrees to <br />conduct <br />engineering <br />investigations and <br />studies and <br />to prepare <br />engineering <br />reports and cost <br />estimates <br />pertaining <br />to specific <br />assignments as may <br />be authorized <br />by the County from time <br />to time, all in <br />accordance with sound <br />engineering <br />practices. <br />ARTICLE 4. PROJECT DESIGN SERVICES: <br />4a. The Consultant agrees to prepare detailed construction <br />drawings, specifications and contract documents suitable <br />for inviting construction bids for such projects as may <br />be authorized by the County. <br />4b. The work shall include the preparation of an estimate of <br />probable cost of construction based upon completed <br />construction plans. <br />ARTICLE 5. GENERAL SERVICES DURING CONSTRUCTION: <br />5a. The Consultant hereby agrees to furnish general <br />engineering services during construction of projects for <br />which drawings, specifications and contract documents <br />have been previously prepared by the Consultant. The <br />services shall include advice and assistance to the <br />County in the receipt and analysis of bids and the award <br />of construction contracts, advice during construction, <br />preparation of such sketches as are needed to resolve <br />actual field conditions, the review of shop drawings and <br />working drawings submitted by the contractors, visits to <br />the site at intervals appropriate to the various stages <br />of construction to observe as an experienced and <br />qualified design professional and the progress and <br />quality of the executed work of contractors and to <br />determine in general if such work is proceeding in <br />accordinace with the contract documents, review of cost <br />estimates for payments to the contractors during the <br />progress of and upon completion of the contracts, and to <br />oversee the final testing and final inspection of <br />completed works. <br />5b. The Consultant shall not be required to make exhaustive <br />or continuous on-site inspections to check the quality <br />or quantity of such work. The Consultant shall not be <br />responsible for the means, methods, techniques, <br />sequences or procedures of construction selected by <br />contractors or the safety precautions and programs <br />incident to the work of contractors. During such visits <br />and on the basis of on-site observations, the Consultant <br />shall keep the County informed of the progress of the <br />work, shall endeavor to guard the County against defects <br />and deficiencies in such work and will disapprove or <br />reject work failing to conform to the contract <br />documents. _2_ <br />
