He <br />felt there is an escape clause, but would need a legal opinion. <br />Commissioner Bird confirmed that we have a Master Plan which <br />indicates a pedestrian bridge. <br />Administrator Wright suggested, if the County really wants <br />to develop Round Island, that the Board send the County Attorney <br />to Tallahassee to argue for it next week. In fact, that was the <br />purpose of bringing this matter to the Board today. He felt the <br />County Attorney and Mr. Challacombe would be most eloquent in <br />front of the Cabinet. <br />Attorney Brandenburg suggested the Administrator go to <br />Tallahassee also. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Wodtke, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Bird, the Board unanimously <br />accepted staff's recommendations and authorized . <br />out -of -county travel for the County Attorney, <br />Administrator, and appropriate staff, to go to <br />Tallahassee to address state officials in regard <br />to developing Round Island. <br />REPORT ON JAIL STATUS <br />Chairman Lyons noted that when the Jail Inspector was here <br />recently in regard to overcrowding at the jail, he offered about <br />nine alternatives. The Chairman reported as to progress made in <br />regard to following the options suggested: <br />1) Fast <br />Track Committee - <br />He has talked to <br />Judge Vocelle <br />in <br />regard <br />to reinstating this <br />committee, and <br />the judges are <br />willing <br />to do this. <br />2) County Probation Officer - Director Dean has talked to County <br />Judge Woodrow Hatcher, who has had about ten years experience <br />with a probation officer, and Judge Hatcher is going to come here <br />73 <br />BOOK 0 PAGE 789 <br />MAY 1 1995 <br />I <br />
