DOUGLAS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL LEASE EXPIRATION
Attorney Brandenburg advised that Florida Community Health
Centers, Inc. lease agreement is about to expire and recommended
that we write requesting them to sign a quit -claim deed releasing
all their rights to the property and that the property be listed
on the County inventory.
ON MOTION by Commissioner Scurlock, SECONDED by
Commissioner Bowman, the Board unanimously
authorized the County Attorney to request
Florida Community Health Centers, Inc. to sign a
quit -claim deed releasing all their rights to the old
Douglas Elementary School building and property.
Comnissioner Bird anticipated that this action will generate
more requests to use that site and noted that we already have
requests from the West Wabasso Progressive Civic League and the
Headstart program for the use of the school building and the
Wabasso Station will be using a portion of the land.
SACC LEGISLATIVE UPDATE
Commissioner Scurlock reported that he and Administrator
Wright went to Tallahassee to check on how proposed legislation
to establish Indian River as an aquatic reserve would affect the
future development of Round Island Park with respect to bridges
and crossings for water and sewer. The bill has passed in the
Senate and is expected out of the House Appropriations Committee
next week.
Attorney Brandenburg noted that the proposed area to be
included runs south from Malabar and the City of Vero Beach will
be exempted. The suggestion is for stopping it at the Wabasso
Bridge until further studies are done as to what exactly should
or should not be included.
39
MAY 2 2 1995 BOOK
L
