Director Davis stated that it is very difficult to feel out <br />the people who live in that area. The members of the Advisory <br />Committee agreed with this recommendation - both those who belong <br />to the Property Owners Association and those who don't, but there <br />was not good attendance at the meetings. <br />MOTION WAS MADE by Commissioner Scurlock, SECONDED <br />by Commissioner Bird, to authorize staff to prepare <br />the information necessary to enable us to identify to <br />each of the property owners an appropriate time during <br />budget sessions when we will discuss this item and <br />then decide what level of assessment is appropriate. <br />Commissioner Scurlock's personal feeling was that we should <br />support what the majority of the residents wish, and this will <br />give staff an opportunity to prepare information and contact all <br />owners. <br />Discussion ensued regarding ownership of the property in <br />question, and Director Davis informed the Board that Vero Lakes <br />Estates is made up of about 3600 parcels, about 2500 of which are <br />owned by Mr. Ansin. This leaves about 1100 parcels, many having <br />out-of-state owners. <br />Commissioner Scurlock felt regardless of the particular <br />ownership, we still have to serve the needs of the community. <br />Administrator Wright suggested that we advertise in a publi- <br />cation rather than mailing to 1100 people. <br />Commissioner Scurlock just wished to be sure we have good <br />notice, and Commissioner Bowman wished to be sure that meeting is <br />held in the evening. <br />Commissioner Bird inquired whether it is anticipated by the - - <br />community that the annual assessment would approximate this <br />amount each year for a few years or if this is a one-time deal. <br />Director Davis reported that there was talk of about three <br />or four years at the $100 per parcel/acre assessment to get the <br />39 <br />JUN 19 1985 BOOK 6 p� jJ <br />
