D.E.R. DREDGE & FILL PERMIT APPLICATION FILE NO. 31-101120-4 APPLICANT: Riomar Country Club WATERWAY & LOCATION: Unnamed, Section 5, Township 33S, Range 40E, Club Drive, City of Vero Beach. WORK & PURPOSE: The applicant proposes to enlarge an existing golf course lake to provide fill and drainage for golf course fairways. ALTERNATIVES & ANALYSIS: The Planning and Development Division reviews and submits comments on dredge and fill applications to the permitting agencies based upon the following: - The conservation & Coastal Zone Management Element of the Indian River Comprehensive Plan; - Coastal Zone Management, Interim Goals, Objectives & Policies for the Treasure Coast Region; and - The Hutchinson Island Resource Planning & Management Plan. The existing lake currently overflows into the Indian River via a culvert and drainage ditch. The proposed project will expand the water retention capacity of the lake,and the proposed fill to be placed in the drainage ditch will prevent further outflow into the river. This should provide improved water quality for the river in this area. This project is located within the City of Vero Beach and is not of countywide significance.
