Mr. Forte then <br />went on to discuss in detail the differences between the DNR and <br />the Inlet Commission projects at the inlet, threats by the Inlet <br />Commission to take the DNR to court, threats by the DNR not to <br />give the Inlet Commission any more funds if they were taken to <br />court, etc. He continued to urge that the Board support Senator <br />Deratany, ask for a thorough investigation of the Inlet Commis- <br />sion budget, and retain local control over the Sebastian Inlet. <br />Mr. Forte then unrolled a display of newspaper articles <br />pertaining to the Inlet problems over the years. <br />Chairman Lyons left the Chambers briefly at 10;55 o'clock <br />A.M., and Vice Chairman Scurlock took over the meeting. <br />Vice Chairman Scurlock stated that he would support a Motion <br />in regard to retaining local control of Sebastian Inlet, but <br />noted that he is not familiar with Senator Deratany or what he is <br />proposing. <br />MOTION WAS MADE by Commissioner Bowman, SECONDED <br />by Commissioner Wodtke for purposes of discussion, <br />to send a letter to Senator Deratany supporting <br />his position and emphasizing we do not wish to lose <br />local control of the Sebastian Inlet. <br />Commissioner Wodtke noted that he has not read the Senator's <br />proposed Bill and would need to research it before he could <br />support it, but he had no problem with the Motion stating that we <br />want to maintain control of the Inlet as far as our residents are <br />concerned. <br />Discussion followed regarding Senator Deratany's proposed <br />Bill, which Commissioner Wodtke believed was intended to abolish <br />the Inlet District. <br />53 <br />SEP 4 198 5 BOOK PAGE9P�1) <br />
