Requesting assistance, through the Indian River <br />County Department of Emergency Services, <br />from appropriate agencies necessary to <br />neutralize and/or contain the hazardous <br />materials involved. <br />Responding to, and assuming initial control of <br />the management of hazardous material incident <br />scenes occurring within its jurisdiction until a <br />representative of the Indian River County <br />Department of Emergency Services arrives. <br />2.2.5 Indian River County Engineering & Public Works <br />Department <br />The Engineering & Public Works Department(s) will provide <br />the following assistance: <br />Assisting in containment and cleanup of spills by <br />providing equipment and personnel as <br />necessary. <br />Assisting law enforcement agencies with <br />evacuation operations by providing traffic control <br />equipment and personnel. <br />Assisting the local fire division in assembling and <br />dissembling washdown stations and disposing of <br />waste materials. <br />Assisting the American Red Cross North <br />Treasure Coast Chapter by providing garbage <br />pickup and disposal for reception centers and <br />shelters. <br />2.2.6 Indian River County Health Department <br />The Indian River County Health Department is responsible for: <br />Coordinating all health and medical services. <br />Informing the Florida Division of Emergency <br />Management, through the Indian River County <br />Emergency Services Director, of degraded public <br />health conditions. <br />Indian River County Emergency Plan for Hazardous Materials Page 12 <br />
