Monitoring potential public health problems. <br />Supervising local public health operations and <br />coordinating all governmental and non- <br />governmental relief agency resources involved in <br />the prevention or control of emergency public <br />health problems. <br />2.2.7 Indian River Medical Center and Sebastian River Medical <br />Center <br />The Indian River Medical Center and Sebastian River Medical <br />Center will accommodate, if evacuation is necessary, transfer <br />patients from affected medical facilities and critical nursing <br />home patients requiring hospitalization. <br />2.2.8 Indian River County School District <br />The Indian River County School District will supervise <br />temporary shelter operations which utilize school facilities, and <br />provide equipment for the preparation of food for evacuees in <br />cooperation with the American Red Cross, North Treasure <br />Coast Chapter. The School Districtwill also assist in providing <br />buses for evacuees needing transportation, if requested by the <br />Director of the Indian River County Department of Emergency <br />Services. <br />2.2.9 Indian River County Sheriffs Office and Municipal Law <br />Enforcement Agencies <br />Responsibilities shared by the Sheriffs Office and municipal <br />law enforcement agencies include: <br />Determining the occurrence of a hazardous <br />materials release. <br />Isolating and establishing command over the <br />area where evacuation, public safety, traffic <br />control and protection of property are of concern. <br />Notifying the Indian River County Department of <br />Emergency Services, Fire Rescue Division; <br />which has jurisdiction of the occurrence of a <br />hazardous materials release and request that <br />appropriate response be initiated. <br />Indian River County Emergency Plan for Hazardous Materials Page 13 <br />
