The residents of Wallace Acres on the southwest <br />expressed some site plan concerns and those will be worked out <br />through the site plan process. They also met with the residents <br />of Rivera Estates and found no objection. He explained that this <br />is to be a family -rental project with the addition of an adult <br />congregate living facility, which is a special exception under <br />the RM -6 zoning, and both facilities must go through the site <br />plan process. In addition, adult congregate living facilities <br />are required to be licensed under State law and meet certain <br />requirements. <br />Attorney Stewart introduced Dave Quigley, President of <br />Wedgewood Park Development, who advised that they are currently <br />building Wedgewood Park South in Palm Bay. He explained that <br />while he represents a large builder in New Jersey and a group of <br />financiers in Minneapolis, he would be the actual builder of <br />Wedgewood in Vero Beach. <br />Cormnissioner Wodtke was concerned about Whistlewood Sub- <br />division, and Mr. Quigley advised that they will own 100% of <br />Whistlewood and the subdivision actually will be abandoned <br />because they plan to use that area for swimming pools and <br />recreation. <br />Roger Cooper, 336 Live Oak Drive, Wabasso, believed that <br />Indian River County has a very great need for a project like this <br />and that it is a very well conceived and imaginative project, <br />particularly where they blend seniors with families with pets. <br />He had been shocked to learn that we have people working at Piper <br />who must commute to Brevard and St. Lucie Counties for affordable <br />housing, and strongly recommended that the development be <br />approved. <br />Les Caraway, resident of Wallace Acres, stated this <br />development would come within 20 feet of his home and would spoil <br />46 <br />OCT 16 1985BOOK 62 PAa 4, <br />
