He felt that it would <br />make sense for the developers to buy Wallace Acres as well and <br />that would provide two entrances. He reported that he had looked <br />over the Wedgewood project in Palm Bay and suggested that the <br />Board also look at that to see if they would like a similar <br />project within 20 feet of their home. <br />Director Keating explained that in the new zoning categories <br />recently approved, there is a requirement for a certain type of <br />buffering between multiple family and single family. He noted <br />that they have been working with the applicant on a preliminary <br />site plan and will make sure that there is sufficient buffering <br />between the project and any adjacent residential property. <br />Commissioner Bird urged the developer and staff to be overly <br />protective of Mr. Caraway's home and other existing residences in <br />providing an adequate buffer so that they are not adversely <br />affected by this development. He felt that the developer has <br />enough acreage to do that. <br />Arlene Fletcher, Director of the Council on Aging, reported <br />that they have worked very closely with the developer and agree <br />it i -s an excellent idea to have elderly people with younger <br />people, children, and pets; she recommended that the zoning be <br />approved. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Scurlock, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Bird, the Board unanimously (4-0) <br />closed -the Public Hearing. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Scurlock, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Bird, the Board unanimously (4-0) <br />adopted Ordinance 85-87 rezoning 77.7 acres from <br />RS -6 and A to RM -6, Multiple -Family Residential <br />District. <br />47 <br />
