C T <br />3 <br />62 <br />PArE 475 <br />when he should have called for a #4 bar. <br />He caught this on <br />the <br />shop drawings, however, and it has been corrected. <br />The Chairman asked if there were any further questions about <br />structure; he emphasized his concern was that if a certain <br />strength concrete is called for, we should be sure we get it. <br />Mr. Bail noted that although it appears we didn't get what <br />was specified on particular columns, he felt the question is <br />whether it is worthwhile to delay the job and tear the columns <br />down if the concrete comes up to the required strength anyway. <br />He assured the Board that this is being tested now. <br />Commissioner Scurlock continued to express concern about the <br />possibility of the other contractors threatening legal action <br />since based on a lower p.s.i., their bids might have been <br />significantly different. He then wished to know about the <br />imbedders, which it appears may not have been placed in this <br />structure with the result that we now are going to have to anchor <br />all the fixtures, hand rails, etc., we are going to attach. <br />this. <br />Engineer Lastovica stated that is the first he has heard of <br />Commissioner Wodtke believed that there is a bottom line <br />issue which causes great concern, and that is an individual <br />representing the County who was to be employed by the architect, <br />which is a different route than we went when we renovated the <br />---- Courthouse and the Administration Building. He wanted to be very <br />sure that we do have a representative on the job who will be <br />representing the County and can keep us well informed, and it now <br />seems that the person who was supposed to be representing the <br />county is no longer on the job. <br />Mr. Bail agreed that whoever they hire must work for the <br />county, and he suggested that the Board appoint one of their <br />members to meet with them on the site every two weeks or so. <br />Further discussion ensued as to the necessity of the Board <br />being advised of any problems immediately since anything not <br />according to specs requires action by this Board, and <br />26 <br />
