OV <br />e � <br />BOOKJ 62 Far- 676 <br />Discussion followed re the actual amount needed from the <br />county by the Public Defender's office and Mr. Frierson explained <br />that this covers three attorneys at $2,375 per month each, or <br />$7,125 per month for six months. <br />County Attorney Vitunac informed the Board that next Friday <br />the attorneys for all four counties are meeting to discuss this <br />problem and other matters, and he felt possibly the Board might <br />want to make their offer contingent on the other three counties <br />taking the same action. <br />Commissioner Scurlock stated that he did not really care <br />what the other three counties do as he felt there is a need. <br />Administrator Wright reported that he discussed this with <br />Judge Vocelle, who agreed that the other route would cost more. <br />Commissioner Bird wished to be sure these funds will be <br />spent within this county, and Mr. Frierson assured him they will <br />be for the three attorneys who work in this county only. <br />MOTION WAS MADE by Commissioner Scurlock, SECONDED <br />by Commissioner Bird, to approve the request of the <br />Public Defender as submitted in his letter dated <br />October 11, 1985; the funds to be taken from Contin- <br />gency. <br />Discussion ensued regarding the increase in our criminal <br />population, and it was emphasized that the new sentencing <br />guidelines now put the burden on the counties. <br />THE CHAIRMAN CALLED FOR THE QUESTION.
