r <br />Chairman Lyons believed we are, in effect, telling the <br />Housing Authority not to go ahead with their application. <br />Commissioner Bird hoped that Head Start is successful in <br />obtaining their grant, but if they are not, he felt that opens <br />the door for the Housing Authority to resubmit. <br />Mrs. Strickland emphasized that there is no way the Housing <br />Authority can submit unless they go ahead today. <br />Commissioner Scurlock commented that if this new proposal <br />doesn't work out, he is in favor of giving this complex back to <br />the School Board. <br />Discussion ensued re a fire station, and the Administrator <br />advised that the property has not been deeded for a fire station <br />nor is there a survey; we have just reserved the property. <br />COMMISSIONER SCURLOCK CALLED FOR THE QUESTION. <br />It was voted on and carried unanimously (4-0) <br />APPOINTMENTS TO ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROL BOARD <br />In discussion it was noted that we still need to appoint an <br />engineer and two others, who do not have to meet any specific <br />requirements, to the Environmental Control Board. <br />Commissioner Bowman spoke in favor of Dr. John Orcott, whom <br />she felt has very impressive credentials, and Commissioner Bird <br />stated that he would recommend Richard Votapka to fill the <br />engineering slot. <br />After further discussion of those who had submitted resumes, <br />Commissioner Scurlock stated that he would nominate John Pearce. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Scurlock, SECONDED <br />by Commissioner Bowman, the Board unanimously <br />(4-0) closed the nominations. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Bowman, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Scurlock, the Board unanimously <br />73 <br />aQOK 64 FACE 699 <br />
