Wednesday, January 29, 1986 <br />The Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, <br />Florida, met in Special Session at the County Commission <br />Chambers, 1840 25th Street, Vero Beach, Florida, on Wednesday, <br />January 29, 1986, at 7:00 o'clock P.M. Present were Don C. <br />Scurlock, Jr., Chairman; Patrick B. Lyons, Vice Chairman; Richard <br />N. Bird; Margaret C. Bowman; and William C. Wodtke, Jr. Also <br />present were Michael J. Wright, County Administrator; Charles P. <br />Vitunac, Attorney to the Board of County Commissioners; and <br />Barbara Bonnah, Deputy Clerk. <br />The Chairman called the meeting to order. <br />ACCEPTANCE OF LABOR CONTRACT WITH THE COMMUNICATION WORKERS OF <br />AMERICA <br />General Services Director Sonny Dean reviewed the County's <br />negotiations with theCWA on the labor contract for the blue <br />collar workers. The contract was ratified by the union body last <br />Thursday night, with the exclusion of Article 19, which covers <br />wages. As a matter of procedure, it is the Commission's <br />responsibility to either ratify or not ratify the contract. <br />Director Dean explained that the contract is effective <br />October 1, 1985, with the exception of the wage issue which is <br />still under negotiation. <br />Commissioner Wodtke asked what particular benefit would be <br />gained by ratifying the contract effective October 1, 1985 <br />instead of today's date. <br />JAN 2 9 1986 eooK 63F;c�.' <br />
