FEB 1966 BOOK 6 3 F A." 583 <br />Commissioner Bird explained the importance of this piece of <br />property to the golf course and noted that it amounts to about <br />1.2 acres. He believed we are getting a very good deal and <br />recommended the Board accept the donation from Mr. Smith per the <br />terms set out in the above memo. He further noted that we do not <br />have any money in the golf course fund now, but he believed those <br />dollars can be repaid out of the golf course borrowing. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Lyons, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Bowman, the Board unanimously <br />accepted the donation of property by Ed Smith <br />per the terms set out above and authorized <br />payment of the $500 as requested. <br />Discussion ensued regarding the bids for the construction of <br />the Sandridge Golf Club, and Commissioner Bird reported that he <br />and Administrator Wright have a meeting set up Friday morning <br />with the architect, Ron Garl. After they have that meeting and <br />get some questions answered, they will formulate a recommendation <br />to come back to this Board for further direction. <br />Chairman Scurlock inquired how long the low bid will hold <br />before we have to award or reject. He noted this is overbudget <br />based on initial bids. <br />Administrator Wright believed about 30 days, but stated he <br />would check. <br />The Chairman believed we have a real option at this point to <br />negotiate with the low bidder who has made a significant mistake <br />in his bid preparation. He personally now has come to the <br />conclusion that if we are going to do this, we should do it.in a <br />timely fashion and get the club financed and built as fast as <br />possible since he believed construction costs and interest rates <br />are about as low as they will get, but he was not willing to vote <br />for a bond issue without having that figure identified.
