SECTION 01541 <br /> PROTECTION OF THE WORK AND PROPERTY <br /> 1.6 DAMAGE TO EXISTING STRUCTURES AND UTILITIES <br /> A. The CONTRACTOR shall be responsible for and make good all damage to <br /> pavement beyond the limits of this contract, buildings, telephone or other <br /> cables, water pipes, sanitary pipes, or other structures which may be <br /> encountered, whether or not shown on the Drawings. <br /> B. Information shown on the Drawings as to the location of existing utilities has <br /> been prepared from the most reliable data available to the Engineer. This <br /> information is not guaranteed, however, and it shall be this CONTRACTOR's <br /> responsibility to determine the location, character and depth of any existing <br /> utilities. He shall assist the utility companies, by every means possible to <br /> determine said locations. Extreme caution shall be exercised to eliminate any <br /> possibility of any damage to utilities resulting from his activities. <br /> 1.7 ADJUSTMENTS OF UTILITY CASTINGS COVERS AND BOXES <br /> A. All existing utility castings, including valve boxes, junction boxes, manholes, pull <br /> boxes, inlets and similar structures in the areas of construction that are to <br /> remain in service shall be adjusted by the CONTRACTOR to bring them flush <br /> with the surface of the finished work. <br /> B. The CONTRACTOR shall coordinate the utilities to ensure proper construction <br /> sequencing.
