Chairman Scurlock stated that he would go along with this as <br />he did see the need. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Lyons, SECONDED by Commis- <br />sioner Bowman, the Board unanimously authorized the <br />County Attorney to proceed to acquire the IBM equip- <br />ment as set out in the above memo. <br />REPORT ON EXPANSION OF UTILITY SERVICES <br />Chairman Scurlock reported that he and Utilities Director <br />Pinto have been meeting with the Sebastian group; they now have <br />the necessary amount of money for a study; and he will bring this <br />back asking for authorization at the next meeting. The Mayor has <br />indicated he wants to participate for the municipality as well. <br />Commissioner Bird inquired about our plans for providing <br />water service for Indian River Heights as we have a plant <br />practically in their back yard, and Director Pinto advised that <br />this is included in the master plan, but we do not have a <br />specific plan for it; if there is a demand or request, we can go <br />in on a petition basis. <br />The Administrator noted that staff has been authorized to <br />look at this in the Oslo Park area, and the Chairman believed the <br />bottom line is how much do we want to do in a mandatory program. <br />Commissioner Bird believed we are putting in a main line in <br />the area now, and he asked why, if it is feasible, we wouldn't <br />service them before we go further away. <br />Director Pinto noted that the policy is to take in new areas <br />based on someone asking for the service. If this is based on an <br />assessment, it is financially feasible, and if the Board asks him <br />to do this, he will look into it. <br />Commissioner Bird believed the interest is there. <br />Director Pinto advised that we are working on a petition for <br />the Rockridge area, and it also becomes a matter of what you can <br />handle.
