and Chairman Scurlock anticipated going back and extending the <br />beach bond issue when we go with the library bonds to complete <br />the beach acquisition and development package. He had no <br />question that the public would support the program. <br />Commissioner Lyons stated that the Library Committee would <br />have no problem with being put on the beach bond issue as that <br />would rule out raising any millage to pay for the libraries. <br />They feel that is a very delightful position to be in and <br />recommend it very highly. <br />Attorney Vitunac suggested that if we could do the <br />Howell/Chapman piece one step at a time and get the Board's , <br />authorization to contract with the State, we might be able to get <br />a peek at the appraisal during that process and then decide what <br />our exposure would be. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Bowman, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Lyons, the Board unanimously authorized <br />Commissioner Bird and the County Attorney to go ahead <br />and take the next step without any formal commitment <br />being made and bring back what the State will or won't <br />do and get some numbers. <br />Commissioner Bird reported that he is still working on the <br />possibility of finding a piece of suitable property to swap for <br />the Howell/Chapman parcel. <br />REPORT ON MEETING WITH NEW FIRE CHIEF JOHN ALLEN <br />Chairman Scurlock reported that he and Attorney Vitunac met - <br />with John Allen yesterday about some direction on how the Fire <br />Chief will report directly to the Commission. The basic <br />suggestion is that the Fire Chief will develop a liaison between <br />the Chairman of the Fire Advisory Board on a bi-weekly basis just <br />Ems' <br />MAR 1 1986 Boa 63 P�,Iu943 <br />
