Corporate Headquarters:
Employees:
Founded:
2013 Revenues:
Customers:
Markets:
Website:
Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States
More than 1,300
1905
Over $334 million
Not available
Badger Meter serves water utilities, municipalities, and
commercial and industrial customers worldwide. Measuring water, oil,
chemicals, and other fluids, Badger Meter products are known for accuracy,
long-lasting durability and for providing and timely measurement data.
badgermeter.com
Orion SE endpoints allow for mobile (drive by reading) and then the same endpoint becomes a fixed network AMI
solution once network gateways are installed in the area. No reprograming of the endpoint is required. Being that it
is a smart endpoint, when it makes contact with an installed gateway it changes over to a higher powered, fixed
network radio.
Orion SE (Smart Endpoint) supports full Cellular endpoints and uses the local cell towers and networks to
communicate to the head end system. Badger were the only vendor that discussed a cost per read charge for the
attainment of a meter reading. The infrastructure, hardware and software is fully outsourced and they charge 89
cents per meter reading obtained. This cost is prohibitive to the business case unless this charge is passed on to the
customer.
The Orion endpoints will work with Badger, Sensus, Neptune, Elster, and Hersey meters as well as Master Meter
Octave meters. All require a three wire encoder register.
© Langham Consulting Services Inc.
