Due to the shortage of qualified inspectors that appears to be state-wide, staff is requesting Board
permission to waive the formal bidding process for MT Causley, GFA International, and other
qualified supplemental providers as needed, and continue with purchase orders as they will probably
exceed the $50,000 limit imposed by County purchasing practices. In addition, staff needs the Board
to authorize the County Administrator to approve purchase orders for authorized firms up to the
available budgeted amount. Staff does not anticipate that expenses will exceed $125,000 for any
individual supplemental provider.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the Board waive the bid process requirement for supplemental building
inspection services for the remainder of the fiscal year and authorize the County Administrator to
approve purchase orders for firms up to the available budgeted amount in total.
APPROVED AGENDA ITEM:
FOR: February 16, 2016
IM
Indian River Co, Appxaved
Date
Admin.
Legal
Budget
Dept.
- I -
0 6
Purchasing
2 I C b
M:IKGENDA\Current Year\2016\Request to Waive Bid Process for Supplemental Inspection Services 021616.docx
60
