The Chairman informed the Board that this is a situation <br />where we share with the contractor the saving on sales tax and it <br />also refers to the retainage. It is the same arrangement as the <br />first contract, but the page was omitted from what we considered <br />before and he wanted it brought to the Commission's attention <br />that it is on the same basis as the original. He already has the <br />authority to sign the contract, but wanted to be sure the Board <br />knew what he was signing. <br />PROPOSED ORDINANCE ENLARGING PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION <br />County Attorney Vitunac reviewed the proposed ordinance and <br />suggested it be scheduled for a public hearing three weeks from . <br />this meeting. He advised that this ordinance will expand the <br />Planning & Zoning Commission to seven members. Each County <br />Commissioner will have the privilege of nominating one member to <br />the Planning & Zoning Commission, and the two additional members <br />will be appointed at -large. Each issue will require at least a <br />five- member vote. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Lyons, SECONDED by Com- <br />missioner Bowman, the Board unanimously authorized <br />the County Attorney to advertise the public hearing <br />on the proposed ordinance as recommended. <br />RESOLUTIONS RE ISSUANCE OF 9.2 MILLION WATER & SEWER BONDS, ETC. <br />EXPANSION GIFFORD SYSTEM <br />Chairman Scurlock commented that he was disturbed by a <br />comment quoted from the Gifford community which indicated they <br />would like a more responsive County Commission. He believed this, <br />Commission probably has been the most responsive to the Gifford <br />community in the history of the county, and this project is a <br />prime example - a 9.2 million project that will put wastewater <br />within the entire community and also will pave a majority of <br />roads in the community.
