Brescia, P.E. <br />County Engineer <br />BACKGROUND INFORiMATION <br />June 13, 1986 FILE: <br />Bid Acceptance <br />Gravity Sewer System <br />Sheriff's Administration Bldg. <br />REFERENCES: <br />The Engineering Staff has designed a gravity sewer system to provide <br />sanitary service to the proposed Sheriff's Administration Building --at <br />the jail site. Due- to the specialized nature of this type of <br />construction, plans and specifications were developed for outside <br />contractors to properly bid on this project. <br />This construction is required at this time since these lines will be <br />placed beneath the road which serves Phase I of the jail construction. <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />Advertisements for bids were placed in the Press Journal on June 3,- <br />4 and 5 and the Engineering Staff was available on June 10. for prebid <br />conference to answer specific questions by any interested contractors on <br />the plans and specifications. <br />Bids were received on Friday, June 13, 1986 at 10 a.m. in the County <br />Administrators Conference Room. Present at the bid opening were <br />representatives of Ted Myers Contracting.; Company, Inc. and Coastline <br />Utilities, Inc. The follQwing staff MQiaoers were also in attendance: <br />Mrs. Carolyn Goodrich, Manager Purchasing <br />Ms. Michelle A. Terry, Civil Engineer <br />Mr. Ralph N. Brescia, P.E., County Engineer <br />The bids were received as follows: <br />Company <br />Ted Myers Contracting Co., Inc. <br />Coastline Utilities, Inc. <br />Bid <br />$14,609.52 <br />$19,564.00 <br />The Engineering estimate prepared by the Engineering Department was <br />approximately $15,500. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS AND FUNDING <br />Staff recommends that the lowest responsible bidder, the Ted Myers <br />Contracting Co., Inc., be awarded the contract and that funds be <br />appropriated in the amount of $14,609.52. <br />Funding is to be from Fund #302 Sheriff's Administration Bldg. <br />15 <br />r <br />Boa E792 <br />
