PROCLAMATION - AMERICAN RED CROSS DISASTER RELIEF FILLUP DAY <br />Chairman Scurlock read the following,proclamation aloud and <br />presented it to Jim Ledbetter who accepted it in behalf of the <br />American Red Cross. <br />P R O C L A M A T I O N <br />WHEREAS, the AMERICAN RED CROSS gives aid nation-wide to <br />victims of all natural disasters through its Disaster Relief <br />Fund; and <br />WHEREAS, in 1985, the State of Florida spent over $2,000,000 <br />of its allotted Disaster Relief Funds to assist the victims of <br />Hurricane Elena which devastated our Gulf Coast, and the victims <br />of tornadoes and fires which ravaged Central Florida; and <br />WHEREAS, the RED CROSS Disaster Relief Fund has been <br />severely depleted and is in vital need of replenishment for <br />future reserves; and <br />WHEREAS, three major oil associations of Florida; the <br />Service Station Dealers of Florida; the Florida Petroleum <br />Marketers Association, and the Florida Petroleum Council, along <br />with their participating pump locations, have agreed to donate <br />one cent per gallon for every gallon of gas pumped on July 3, <br />1986, to the RED CROSS Disaster Relief Fund; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS, Indian River County, Florida that July 3, 1986 be <br />designated as <br />AMERICAN RED CROSS DISASTER RELIEF FILLUP DAY <br />in Indian River County, and the Board further urges all citizens <br />of the County to participate and support this worthy effort. <br />ATTEST: <br />Freda Wright, Cleyk <br />3 <br />J U L 2 1,986 <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA <br />Don C.
