Although the current land use is LD -2, the actual <br />land use is much lower. Mr. Kirk urged the Board to approve <br />their reasonable and realistic proposal. <br />Samuel Block, attorney representing the Winter Beach <br />Progressive League, believed that the large number of people in <br />attendance today emphasizes the significant concern of the owners <br />in the Winter Beach area. He presented 16 additional letters <br />supporting Alternative #1, and a petition signed by 218 residents <br />who support Alternative #1, which would designate that area LD -1 <br />at 3 units per acre. <br />LETTERS AND"PETITIONS ARE ON FILE IN THE OFFICE OF THE CLERK <br />Clarifying some misunderstanding in regard to Mr. Mooney's <br />statement that he represents 80% of the property owners up there, <br />Attorney Block explained that the Progressive League was <br />proposing a corridor that might encompass more than the area <br />outlined in bold black line on Mr. Mooney's map. <br />Mr. Mooney felt that it would be very interesting to see how <br />many of the people who signed the League's petition actually live <br />east of the Lateral G Canal because much of the land is not <br />developed. West of the canal has significantly more residential <br />as there are three existing subdivisions. <br />Attorney Block estimated that 90% of the members of the <br />Winter Beach Progressive League are residents, as opposed to <br />developers, and these residents wish the land,4se for that area <br />to remain in character with what is there now. He urged the <br />Board to vote for Alternative #1. <br />Ramona Hamilton, owner of property in Winter Beach and <br />recording secretary for the Winter Beach Progressive League, <br />advised that the Planning staff brought out-of-date zoning maps <br />to the workshops, and at one point they brought maps showing two <br />different land uses.
