"Sonny" De <br />General Servic s irector <br />SUBJECT: National Weather Service <br />Equipment Upgrade and <br />AT&T Equipment Contract <br />FROM: Doug Wright REFERENCES: AT&T Equipment <br />Director, Emergency Management Contract/Agreement <br />The National Weather Service is upgrading its' wire service from <br />300 bits per second to 1200 bits per second effective Sept. 1, 1986. <br />As a result, the RCA equipment currently being utilized will be <br />replaced. <br />The equipment being recommended for this upgrade by the National <br />Weather Service is the AT&T Data Set 202T and 475 Printer with <br />associated assembly items. Contact with James Metcalf of AT&T <br />produced the attached Contract for the above referenced equipmc:, <br />Jim Wilson of our legal staff has reviewed the Contract and has <br />talked with AT&T in this regard. <br />The Contract reflects'a cash price of $2,399.00 which includes <br />_ installation and shipping. The time price is $2,881.08 which <br />includes installation, shipping, and interest of $428.08. Pay- <br />ments of $80.03 would be required for the term of 36 months if <br />this method of payment is selected. Beginning the second year <br />of the Contract and continuing for the third year, an additional <br />$19.25 per month would be required for maintenance. After the <br />third year, the equipment would be owned by the County with the <br />only cost being the post warranty maintenance payment of $19.25 <br />per month. <br />Since the equipment upgrade is occurring in the middle of the <br />hurricane season, placement on the next Commission agenda for <br />approval and signature would be appreciated so arrangements for <br />installation can be completed without interruption in this <br />essential service. <br />Commissioner Bird inquired just who uses this service, and <br />it was explained that Emergency Management uses it in conjunction <br />with hurricane warnings, and the Health Department makes use of <br />it also. <br />MOTION WAS MADE by Commissioner Lyons, SECONDED by <br />COMMISSIONER Bowman, to approve the contract with AT&T <br />upgrading their National Weather Service equipment and <br />authorize the signature of the Chairman. <br />17 <br />AUG 61`986 <br />Lf. <br />BOOK 65 FAGS 288 <br />
