budget, and the County Attorney suggested that Mr. Block see what <br />could be changed in the scope of the project and negotiate with <br />the low bidders to see what could be done to get back within <br />budget. <br />Architect Block reported that the low bid was $141,000 and <br />he believed most of the problem is in the site area and coordi- <br />nating this particular site which is in the middle of the golf <br />course. He explained that he went to the two lowest bidders and <br />made some suggestions to them. They have come back to him with <br />some new figures, and so far they have taken approximately <br />$27,000 out and are working on getting back in budget. He, <br />therefore,.is here to ask the Commission to reject the 9 bids and <br />authorize him to continue to negotiate and then come back when he <br />feels he has something more in line. Unfortunately there is a <br />time factor because this building will be needed right up front <br />for mower storage, etc., and it will -take 60 days to build. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Bird, SECONDED by Com- <br />missioner Wodtke, the Board unanimously rejected <br />the 9 bids received on the golf course maintenance <br />building and authorized Architect Block to negotiate <br />with the bidders to try to get the golf course main- <br />tenance building within budget and then come back to <br />the Board.. <br />Chairman Scurlock asked Public Works Director Davis if he is <br />working up a bill for his department's work on the golf course on <br />7 a monthly basis or just how he is handling this as he did not <br />want it to come as a shock when he suddenly did get all the <br />figures together. He also was concerned that he work up the <br />charge outs for labor, etc., at the Jail. <br />Director Davis advised that he is working on all this, but <br />he is not comfortable with the way we are charging for the <br />equipment because using the equipment rental rates takes it out <br />33 <br />AUGQ �� BOOK 65 F,,fn,304 <br />
