0 J86 BOOK 65 PACE 321 <br />ALTERNATIVES AND ANALYSIS: <br />The proposed ordinance amendments serve the purpose of: (1) <br />clarifying certain sections of the ordinance to minimize need <br />for interpretation; and (2) cutting down on administrative <br />requirements, while maintaining the integrity and intent of the - <br />Tree Protection Ordinance. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS: <br />Staff recommends that the Board of County Commissioners approve <br />the proposed ordinance amendment for adoption. <br />Commissioner Bird noted that we haven't had any violations <br />lately and wondered if we are beginning to accomplish something <br />with our tree protection ordinance. <br />Environmental Planner Challacombe believed that we are, <br />especially since word has gotten out about the fine set for the <br />Amdeco violation. <br />Commissioner Lyons inquired what limitations we have on the <br />clearing of paths as a path is not necessarily straight. <br />Planner DeBlois advised that the ordinance specifies that it <br />would have to be unprotected vegetation that would be removed, <br />and there is also a limitation of 4' width for a path and 10' for <br />vehicle accesses. <br />The Chairman asked if anyone present.wished to be heard, and <br />there were none. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Wodtke, SECONDED by Com- <br />missioner Lyons, the Board unanimously closed the <br />public hearing. <br />MOTION was made by Commissioner Lyons, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Bird, to adopt Ordinance 86-57 amend - <br />the Tree Protection Ordinance as proposed by staff. <br />Commissioner Bowman had a question about the wording <br />"activities governed by tree removal" and believed it should <br />state that is governed by permits for tree removal. <br />50 <br />
