THOMAS, ACTING ADMINISTRATOR <br />VIA: TERRANCE G. PINTO, DIRECTOR OF UTILITIES <br />FROM: JEFFREY A. BOONE, ENGINEERING OPERATIONS MANAGER <br />SUBJECT: REVERSE OSMOSIS PLANT/CAPITAL EXPANSION PROJECTS <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The County's Reverse Osmosis(RO) water treatment plant is currently <br />operating near the 3 million gallons per day (MGD) capacity producing <br />1.7 based on a 12 hour production day. Realizing the rapid growth of <br />the water system, the Utilities Division has identified major capital <br />expansion projects needed to provide water service to anticipat- <br />development. Upon our request, DSS Engineers, the County's consulta:.- <br />for the RO plant has prepared a study of the necessary expansion and <br />improvements including a description of the work, a preliminary budget <br />estimate for construction, justification of the improvement and <br />proposals for the associated engineering costs. A copy of DSS <br />Engineer's report is attached for your review. <br />ANALYSIS• <br />A summary of the capital expansion and improvements needed to increase <br />production capacity to 5.2 MGD.
