L� <br />MOTION WAS MADE by Commissioner Lyons, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Wodtke, to accept the central dispatch <br />concept as presented by the Sheriff and to authorize <br />moving forward to come up with overall costs and <br />recommendations for financing. <br />Commissioner Wodtke advised that his second was based on the <br />understanding that we are meeting with the North County people re <br />this dispatch concept and will be flexible in working it out. <br />Commissioner Lyons agreed there is some flexibility but <br />emphasized that it will not change the general design of the <br />system. <br />dog." <br />Chairman Scurlock felt that we "cannot let the tail wag the <br />THE CHAIRMAN CALLED FOR THE QUESTION. <br />It was voted on and carried unanimously. <br />Helen Baker of the Indian River Memorial Hospital emphasized <br />how important it is in pre -hospital care to have a consolidated <br />dispatch system rather than the fragmented one we have now.. <br />Don Hylton, Director of Data Processing, confirmed, as the <br />Sheriff reported, that his department is in the process of trying <br />to write a computer package for the Sheriff and, in fact, he has <br />a man assigned to this full time. For the record, he wished it <br />noted that the Clerk's office needs to be considered in the <br />funding because they are stretched to the limit. <br />In the ensuing discussion, the Chairman and Commissioner <br />Lyons stated that this is all being considered under the <br />financial aspect.
