SEP 16 IS36 BOOK 65 7-11 <br />CORPORATE MEMBERSHIP <br />4. This may also be a convenient time to re -visit the charter of the <br />Corporation to ensure that its membership is consistent to <br />the new policies which may be established by the County pursuant <br />to this memorandum. Currently the Board of County Commissioners <br />_appoints two members as does the Firefighters Association, and. <br />these four members choose a fifth. <br />The committee respectfully requests direction from the Board of County <br />Commissioners so that the County Attorney's Office can prepare the <br />necessary documents. <br />Attorney Vitunac recommended that the new County Adminis- <br />trator consider the options on this matter during the next week. <br />Commissioner Bowman wished to know exactly who represents <br />the Fair Corporation, and Attorney Vitunac listed the following: <br />He and Commissioner Bird represent the County; Bill Tripp and Joe <br />Earman, Jr. represent the Firefighters, and Mike Wodtke is a <br />member at large. <br />Chairman Scurlock noted that from day one, the firefighters <br />have presented what has come to be called the County Fair; <br />however the South County Firefighter's Fair only takes up two <br />weeks of the year. Other counties have expanded their fair- <br />grounds into multi-million dollar operations, and he believed the <br />Fair Corporation will have to become sophisticated in a very <br />short time, with a very strong administrator running the <br />day-to-day operations. <br />Commissioner Bird agre.ed that it was reaching that point in <br />a hurry. Up to this point, it has been a very smooth running <br />function, but the operation is growing rapidly. The firefighters <br />are ready to construct a $180,000 building out there and donate <br />it to the County, and a few agricultural groups have indicated <br />that the will be <br />y making substantial donations as well. <br />Intergovernmental Relations Director Tommy Thomas advised <br />that Planning and Public Works are doing an update on the.overall <br />site plan for the Fairgrounds, and he has asked staff to consider <br />expanding the plan to include the entire Kiwanis-Hobart Park. <br />Commissioner Bird reported that Ralph Brescia of the <br />38 <br />
