OMB Director Baird emphasized that if we can't get this <br />coverage, we will be uninsured at midnight, and Commissioner Bird <br />noted that in the event this insurance comes back at double the <br />cost of last year, he would rather see us uninsured for a few <br />days while we shop around. <br />THE CHAIRMAN CALLED FOR THE QUESTION. <br />It was voted on and carried unanimously (4-0).1 <br />FURTHER DISCUSSION RE SHERIFF'S CAD SYSTEM <br />Commissioner Bird requested some clarification on the action <br />taken earlier on the Sheriff's matters. In regard to the equipment <br />needed for central dispatch, he noted the Board was additionally <br />provided with a proposal from Communications International <br />listing equipment to install microwave communications <br />capabilities from Hobart Park tower site to the new Sheriff's <br />communication complex in the amount of $67,240, and he wished to <br />know if this was included along with the other equipment. <br />Chairman Scurlock advised that we have been asking for <br />budget figures to plug into the bond issue, and this proposal is <br />simply providing those numbers. <br />General Services Director Dean believed the only thing the <br />Commission took action on was the Cad Consortium and also the <br />equipment it was going to take to put the central communications <br />in operation as of January 1st. Anything above that has not been <br />addressed at this time. <br />Commissioner Bird noted that, in other words, we didn't <br />authorize the purchase of the equipment in the proposal from <br />Communications International; we just received the information to <br />• plug into the bond issue. <br />This was confirmed by the Chairman and General Services <br />Director, and OMB Director Baird advised that he will send a <br />Letter to the Sheriff setting out the Board's action.
