r OCT 2 0 7986 � <br />BOOK 66 PAGE 98 <br />Depths & Widths of Waterways in the Estuarine Channels <br />Mr. Challacombe presented the following chart: <br />CHANNEL PROFILE <br />ALTERNATES <br />Mr. Challacombe advised that staff is proposing Alternative <br />#2 as a better and natural approach to constructing the estuarine <br />system. <br />Commissioner Bird wondered if we would be creating a <br />maintenance problem by having the shallow channels, but Mr. <br />Challacombe did not believe we would. He explained that we don't <br />want to go too deep because we don't want it to become dead water <br />due to low oxygen content. In order to preserve the high marsh, <br />staff recommends as little alteration as possible. <br />Mrs. Stanbridge wished to see the widths of the channels <br />reduced even more, but Chairman Scurlock felt there would be a <br />problem with the movement of the water. <br />Michael Egan, attorney representing Grand Harbor, <br />appreciated the Board's response and consideration of this <br />complex matter.
