1 <br />1 <br />0 <br />TUESDAY, OCTOBER 6th 1931. <br />The Board -of County Commissioners in and for Indian River County, Florida, met at the <br />Court House in Vero Beach, at 10:00 o'clock A.M.Tuesday, October 6th 19319 with the <br />following members of the Board present: Albert 0. Helseth, Chaixman, J.D.Yongue; J.W. <br />LaB race; J.J.P.Hamilton and Eli C. Walker. Also present were Miles Warren, Clerk and <br />Clark S. Rice, Sheriff. <br />Advertisement having been published in the Vero Beach Press -Journal giving notice <br />that at this hour the Board would receive bids for the construction of road West of <br />Wabasso, and proof of publication of such advertisement having been filed with this <br />Board, bids as submitted were opened and read for consideration, as follows: Faulk & <br />Coleman, 3.5 gallons per square yard Florida Liquid Asphalt at 39, per square yard. <br />Using 2.5 gallons per square yard Florida Liquid Asphalt at 33� per square yard. <br />- -.... - _- ., <br />A.O.Greynolds Co., Inc., a corporation at 43je per square yard oil to be 6 inches deep <br />on the road. <br />i <br />The Board having carefully considered the bids as submitted, on motion of Commission- <br />er LaBruce that the contract be awarded to A 0 Greynolds, Inc., a corporation for <br />approximately -9000 square yards of road to be constructed to b.e paid 1/2 In cash upon <br />completion of the work and the other 1/2 to be paid contingent on collections from the <br />1931 tax rolls. Such motion was seconded by Commissioner Walker, and upon being put to <br />a vote those voting yea: Com'ra. Yongue; LaBruce and Walker. No. Com'r. Hamilton. <br />It was moved, seconded and carried that the bond of A.O.Greynolds Co., Inc., a cor- <br />poration in the sum of $29000.00 with United States Fidelity & Guaranty Co., as surety, <br />dated August 18th 1931, covering re -oiling contract be cancelled and the Clerk is auth- <br />orized to give a certificate to that effect. <br />The Notaty Public bond of G. C. Snodgrass, in the sum of $500.00 with American 'Surety <br />Company, a corporation, as surety was approved. <br />It was moved, seconded and carried that the Road Superintendent be instructed to <br />block the ditches on the Baughman road for a distance of 50 feet where entering private <br />Drainage ditch to an elevation of such dyke as may have been at this location at the time <br />of the construction of this road. <br />It was ordered that Mrs O.E.Knowles of -Vero Beach be paid $10.00 out of the pauper <br />account for assistance at this time. <br />'Superintendent of Schools, Walter T. James appeared requesting marl.for Fellsmere <br />and Wabasso school grounds when it is convenient for the road crew to deliver the some. <br />It was ordered that this work be done at the first opportunity. <br />of Sebastian, <br />It was ordered Mrs John Gram/be placed on the pauper list to receive the sum of <br />$8.00 per month, until further orders of this Board. <br />The time having arrived to open bids for the purchase of a truck, advertisement <br />having been run as provided by law, the Board proceeded to open, read and consider all <br />the bids submitted. After carefully considering all bids on file, it was ordered that <br />one Ford Truck 157 inch wheel base with dual wheels be purchased for $397.00 cash and <br />rd Coupe formerly used by County Nurse. <br />The Time having arrived for the opening of bids for lumber to be used in repairing <br />Vero Bridge, proof of publication having been submitted showing the advertisement <br />according to law, the Board proceeded to open, read and consider the bids on file. <br />After carefully considering all the bids submitted and offered, it was ordered that the <br />bid submitted of East Coast Lumber & Supply Company, to furnish approximately 52,355 ft. <br />of lumber at 'a price of $24.50 per thousand feet. <br />
