Davis, P.E., REFERENCES: Don Hicks, Kimley-xorn <br />Public Works Director Assoc., to Jim Davis <br />1DOX01141WIA• It •' D • 7 <br />In July, 1986, the Board authorized engineering fees of $3,200 for a <br />Consultant to complement County staff in designing a new replacement bridge <br />over the Main Relief Canal serving the Vero Beach Country Club area. The <br />existing bridge needs replacement. <br />Staff has performed most of the design work "in house". However, some <br />additional structural analysis is necessary and can best be performed by <br />Kimley--Horn Assoc. using computer software not available to County staff. <br />For this reason, staff desires to expand the scope of work with Kimley-Horn <br />to complete the design. The additional work will cost $2,000. <br />ALTERMTIVES AMID ANALYSIS <br />Staff could perforin the work in house, however, it would take many man <br />hours and the Consultant, using computer, could expedite the work. <br />RE7CCM14MATION AND FUNDING <br />Staff recommends an additional $2000 be appropriated to complete the <br />design:- Funding to be from fund 111-214-541 - Road and Bridge Dept. <br />account. <br />Commissioner Wodtke wished to know whether the additional <br />$2,000 was over and above the original engineering fees _ <br />authorized in the amount of $3,200, and Public Works Director <br />Davis confirmed that it was.
