F, [Ivov zl -twe <br />BOOK 6 <br />Mr. Dorskey informed the Board that the Town has a similar <br />ordinance applying only to residential where some increase is <br />allowed for -further setback; however, it is only 4" for each 1' <br />with a maximum 2' increase. <br />Chairman Scurlock inquired about the Town's maximum height <br />limitation, and Mr. Dorskey explained that it is 501, but their <br />height is measured from mean high water which results in around <br />35' because the dune is about 151. <br />Chairman'Scurlock felt there are buildings in the town <br />higher than 35141 and Mr. Dorskey stated there is one that was <br />built before the controls were put on. <br />Chairman Scurlock did not see how the height would affect <br />the evacuation route if there is no increase in density. <br />Mr. Dorskey did not know that it.would, but noted the Town <br />was concerned for this area for a number of reasons including the <br />environment and also evacuation. <br />Commissioner Wodtke asked if the Town Council had a full <br />presentation on this by our staff or Mr. Nutt, and Mr. Dorskey <br />stated the most input they had was from Councilman MacAdam who <br />was more familiar with this than the rest and he proposed the <br />Resolution. <br />Commissioner Lyons wished to know what the negative environ- <br />mental impact would be, and Mr. Dorskey believed the height <br />-causes wind erosion, and also they felt from an aesthetic point <br />of view, it is worse than the environmental impact. <br />Chairman Scurlock inquired if the Town's ordinance allows <br />the developer to excavate to mean sea level and then go up 50', <br />and Mr. Dorskey stated it does not; the net height has to be 50' <br />from mean high water. <br />Burt Hambleton of Mooringline. Drive, Vice President of the <br />Moorings Property Owners Association, came before the Board to <br />speak for the Association, which represents 2,200 people.
