BALCZUN, ADMINISTRATOR0 <br />VIA: TERRANCE G. PINTO, DIRECTOR OF U -L TY SERVICES <br />FROM: JEFFREY A. BOONE, ENGINEERING OPERATIONS MANAGER <br />DIVISION OF UTILITY SERVICES <br />SUBJECT: 27TH AVENUE & 4TH STREET <br />INTERSECTION UTILITY IMPROVEMENTS <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Public Works Division is preparing to make substantial roadway <br />improvements at the intersection of 27th Avenue and 4th Street. The <br />Utilities•Division proposes that dry lines conforming to the water <br />sytem master plan be installed prior to the pending roadway <br />improvements to avoid disturbing the improved areas in the future. <br />The master plan calls for a 16 -inch water main on 27th Avenue and a <br />12 -inch water main on 4th Street. <br />AVAT.VCTC <br />The Division of Utility Services has had preliminary discussions with <br />Lloyd and Associates, Inc., the engineers for the subject roadway <br />improvements. Additional engineering fees in the amount of 10% of <br />the cost of construction of the subject water mains, not to exceed <br />$2,000, have been agreed upon. The estimated construction cost is <br />$15,000.00 and.will be accomplished by means of .a change order to the <br />Public Works Division contract with Dennis L. Smith, Inc. <br />Engineering fees will cover design, DER permitting and construction <br />inspection. The engineering and construction costs will be funded by <br />the -Division of Utility Services Impact Fee Fund. ' <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />The Division of, Utility Services recommends that the Board of County <br />Commissioners approve the subject utility construction "by authorizing <br />change orders to the existing agreement for engineering services <br />between the Public Works Division and Lloyd and Associates, Inc., and <br />the existing construction contract with Dennis L.
