She wished to know how the Board planned to bill the <br />municipalities for the March 10th election, as this would be a <br />new charge to them. <br />Commissioner Wheeler pointed out that one of the reasons he <br />was trying to push this through was to save an additional <br />$3000-$3400 by having the cities contribute. He was going to be <br />disappointed if the County had to pay for the whole election. <br />Chairman Scurlock wished to see this handled by sending a <br />letter to each of the municipalities indicating that it is the <br />Board's desire for payment in that amount, and we will see how <br />much participation we get. He felt their good conscience will <br />dictate what they do. <br />Supervisor Robinson advised that just so the municipalities <br />would be aware of the Board's intentions, she sent the 25 -cent <br />charge recommendation to each of the City Clerks, but, of <br />course, they are not authorized to spend the money. However, <br />they all seemed delighted to have the County take the respon- <br />sibility of the election for a charge of 25 cents per registered <br />voter. <br />The Board directed the County Attorney to write a letter to <br />each of the municipalities with regard to the 25 -cent charge. <br />THE CHAIRMAN CALLED FOR THE QUESTION. The Motion <br />was voted on and carried unanimously. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Bowman, the Board unanimously adopted <br />Resolution 87-11, authorizing the Supervisor of <br />Elections to execute certificates holding owners of <br />property used by the county for polling places for <br />county elections harmless from any and all claims for <br />damages relating to the county's use of such place. <br />69 <br />
