General Services Director Sonny Dean advised that staff does <br />not agree with Items 5, 6, 9, 10 and 12 of the Architect's <br />recommendations listed in the above memo. He advised that he <br />would address Items 5, 10, and 12, and Director Baird would be <br />addressing Items 6 and 9, which deal with interest. <br />Item 5 <br />Since we hired a subcontractor to install the water meter, pit <br />and other paraphernalia it took to furnish service to the <br />building, staff is recommending a denial of the 4 -day extension <br />on this item. <br />Item 10 <br />Since there was no extension agreed upon with the Contractor, <br />staff does not recommend the 3 -day extension. <br />Item 12 <br />When the sewer line was completed out there, we informed the <br />Architect that we could not accept the work without an <br />appropriate test. The Utility Dept. was unable to use the mirror <br />test, and the Architect called in someone to run a ping pong ball <br />flow test. Staff has no problem with paying for the test, but <br />feels that the Contractor should not be given another day to <br />perform that test. <br />Director Dean advised that the Architect is here today to <br />answer any questions. The Contractor and Architect are <br />recommending that we penalize them for 32 days and we are <br />recommending that we charge them for 40 days, a difference of 8 <br />days. <br />The Board reviewed the following memo dated 2/25/87: <br />
