Dr. Walker just wanted to be sure that the funding <br />problem was resolved before he proceeded with the blood tests. <br />Commissioner Bird felt it is not our intent that other <br />counties should subsidize our costs. <br />Attorney Vitunac recalled that when Dr. Walker was here a <br />year ago and the Board expressed their opposition to his <br />reappointment for another term, Dr. Walker responded, "give it <br />your best shot," <br />Chairman Scurlock felt that is what we are doing, giving it <br />our best shot. <br />Attorney Kreidler felt it was unfortunate that this tragic <br />boat accident had to bring this funding issue to a head, but <br />assured the Board that a request will be forthcoming to secure <br />funding so there will be no subsequent problems. <br />Commissioner Bowman pointed out that when Bruce Colton <br />announced that he was not going to recommend Dr. Walker's <br />reappointment, Dr. Walker grandstanded in the newspapers that he <br />was going to get Bruce Colton's job. Now, he is grandstanding <br />again with regard to the two blood tests. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Wheeler, the Board unanimously voted <br />not to recommend that Dr. Leonard Walker be <br />reappointed as Medical Examiner for this district. <br />Attorney Vitunac asked for authority to send someone to the <br />Medical Examiners Commission meeting. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Wheeler, the Board unanimously authorized <br />a Commissioner or appropriate staff member to attend <br />the April 16th meeting of the Medical Examiners <br />Commission. <br />MAR 4 1981 118 eoa� 6 �' PA:GE 76 i <br />
