MAR 2 4 1997 <br />TRANSPORTATION PLANNING COMMITTEE REPORT <br />BOOK 67 rmu. -r 770 <br />Public Works Director Jim Davis presented the following <br />TRANSPORTATION PLANNING COMMITTEE <br />SUMMARY OF ACTIONS <br />MARCH 11, 1987 MEETING <br />1. INDIAN RIVER BOULEVARD - NORTH EXTENSION <br />The Committee was informed of the status of the project, and <br />the environmental coordination report. <br />2. AMENDMENTS TO THE TRANSPORTATION ELEMENT OF THE <br />COMPREHENSIVE PLAN <br />The Committee recommended acceptance of the following <br />amendments: <br />a) Add 106th Avenue north of CR -512 <br />b) Add 102nd Terrace north of CR -512 <br />C) Add 92nd Avenue from 87th Street to north of <br />CR -512 <br />d) Delete 43rd Avenue from 57th Street to <br />69th Street <br />e) Reclassify 43rd Avenue as a secondary <br />collector road from 53rd Street to <br />57th Street, and from 65th Street to <br />69th Street <br />3. US -1 CORRIDOR FEASIBILITY STUDY <br />The Committee was informed of a FDOT study of improvements <br />to the US -1 Corridor from Martin County through Indian River <br />County. <br />4. US-1/8th STREET INTERSECTION <br />The Committee accepted a staff recommendation to request the <br />FDOT to establish left -turn prohibitions on US -1 at 8th <br />Street due to an accident history until the five-laning <br />project is completed. In addition, the Committee <br />recommended that a resolution be sent to the FDOT to <br />accelerate the construction of the five -lane project. <br />5. 90th AVENUE SPEED LIMIT <br />The Committee accepted staff recommendation to increase the <br />speed limit on 90th Avenue between SR60 and 12th Street from <br />30 MPH to 40 MPH. <br />6. TRANSPORTATION IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM <br />The Committee was informed of the updated Transportation <br />Improvement Program. <br />7. TRAFFIC SIGNAL - CR -512 AT BARBER STREET <br />The Committee directed staff to proceed with an intersection <br />study in response to a request for a flashing beacon from <br />the City of Sebastian. <br />121 <br />
