pyq�� F A f�LL.�, <br />BOOK � FAH•r 46 <br />Director Davis said that we have the option of county -wide <br />user fees, but was not quite sure what that would do for this <br />particular park, and they would look into that further. <br />Commissioner Bowman asked why a swimming pool was not <br />included in the plan, and Director Davis advised that a recent <br />survey found that there was not much interest in having a <br />swimming pool, plus the fact that the YMCA's pool is not being <br />fully utilized. <br />Commissioner Bird suggested that the Master Plan be broken <br />down into more phases, and Chairman Scurlock believed the overall <br />feeling is that it is an excellent plan, except for the racquet <br />ball courts. <br />Commissioner Bird felt that we really need some <br />recommendations from staff on how to acquire the remaining <br />property and how to raise those funds. <br />Chairman Scurlock pointed out that Tommy Thomas, Director of <br />Intergovernmental Relations, has suggested that the County might <br />want to sell a piece of property next to the Tracking Station <br />Park to Indian River Shores, and that money could be used to <br />build the South County Regional Park. <br />Commissioner Bird believed that is the type of option we <br />need to explore. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Bird, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Eggert, the Board unanimously accepted <br />the proposed conceptual Master Plan for the South <br />County Regional Park, with the understanding that <br />further consideration be given to building the park in <br />more phases and determining if sufficient parking has <br />been provided; and directed staff to proceed in the <br />acquisition of land for the park. <br />97 <br />� r� r <br />
