S. Rental of Voting Equipment - Policy re Special_ Elections <br />The Board reviewed memo from the Supervisor of Elections: <br />I <br />March 31., 1987; <br />TO: DON C. SCURLOCK, JR., CHAIRMAN, BCC <br />FROM: ANN ROBINSON, SUPERVISOR OF ELECTIONS <br />RE: AGENDA ITEM, BCC MEETING OF APRIL 7, 1987 <br />1. Rental of voting equipment <br />2. Policy regarding special elections <br />1'. I request your approval of the following charges for use of <br />the County's voting equipment: <br />Voting Booth $ 15.00 each <br />Transfer Case 3.00 each <br />Ballot Box 3.00 each <br />Card Reader 500.00 each <br />To Prepare Booths 20.00 hour <br />Transportation Costs as determined by Road & Bridge <br />2. I request your approval of the following policy regarding <br />special elections: <br />A. The governing body that wants to hold a special election <br />must receive approval from the Supervisor of Elections(SOE) <br />and the Board of County Commissioners(BCC) at a regularly <br />scheduled meeting of the BCC a minimum of three -months <br />before the special election is to be held. <br />B. The cost of the special election will be estimated by the <br />SOE at the time that a governing body requests a special <br />election. That amount will be stated as part of the approval <br />by the SOE and the BCC with the stipulation that a check for <br />the amount will be remitted to the SOE by the governing body <br />three months before the desired election or no election will <br />be held. <br />Because all funds received by the SOE are turned in to the <br />BCC General Fund, the approval by the BCC to hold the special <br />election would include the approval of a transfer of funds <br />from General Funds Contingency to --the elections account <br />001-700-519-036.74, Special Elections Expense, upon receipt <br />of the check from the governing body requesting the special <br />election. Any money not spent on the special election would <br />be returned to the governing body. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Bird, SECONDED by Com- <br />missioner Eggert, the Board unanimously approved <br />charges for use of the County's voting equipment. <br />and the policy regarding special elections as set <br />out in the above memo. <br />T.
